1>- This version of fastmenu GOLD has been fully tested and updated
for use running under MS-DOS v6.0 and also has been updated
for using the new version 204g PK-ZIP archiving utility from
the built-in ZIP SHELL menu.
2>- In the PhoneBook module, you may now change the phone number
field titles from "Home" and "Work" to any titles you like.
Simply create a text file named PFIELDS.DAT in the fastmenu
GOLD directory. Place phone number field titles as line one
and two in this file. You may use up to eight characters in
each field title.
3>- In the Disk/Directory Utility module, a new option has been
added to the ZIP Menu (UN-ZIP (all). Selecting this option
will allow un-zipping a single zip file without displaying
the zip file contents in a scrolling menu.

DOS after five number re-dials has been fixed.
2>- The timed events are now also recorded in the log file when
executed.
3>- Three new disk format options have been added to the disk utility
module that will help when using DOS 5.0.
4>- A problem of dropping to DOS when un-zipping files with embedded
self-extracting zip files has been fixed.
Updates and changes to version 6.1.0
1>- The Phonebook module now creates and maintains three different
support files for each database (*.GPD, *.GRD, *.GND). Due to
this change, data files created with earlier versions are no
longer compatable. A conversion utility will be shipped with
registered versions that allow converting old phonebook files
to the new format.
2>- In the phonebook module, there are now two phone number fields
and both number fields will accept up to 17 characters,
previously the number field was only 14 characters long.
3>- In the phonebook module, the ability to add a free form note
with up to 159 lines of text can be tagged to each record.
This can be done simply by highlighting a record and selecting
the 'Note' Icon button.
NOTE !! This 'Note' Icon works in two different ways, If the
highlight bar is at bottom of file, selecting the 'Note'
Icon will take you to the calendar notepad where you can
edit or change notes tagged to a particular calendar
date. If you have a phonebook record highlighted and
then select the 'Note' Icon, you will be taken to a note
editor that will allow editing a free form note tagged
to the highlighted record.
4>- fastmenu GOLD can now be instructed to drop to DOS after executing
an application or batch file. To do this, at the Run File field
simply add a carat character (^) and then the letters 'DROP'
immediately after the executable filename.
EXAMPLE: Run File: DOSSHELL^DROP
The above command would execute the DOS shell application and
uppon exit of the DOS shell you would be dropped to DOS and
fastmenu GOLD would not re-start.
5>- In the Setup Module, a new option can be found under the default
program parameters option that will allow setting up the automatic
execution of an application or batch file at startup.
6>- In the Setup Module, a new option can be found under the default
program parameters option that allows editing or changing the
prompt that is displayed when asked to enter a command line parm.
7>- In the DOS/Disk Utility Module, A new option 'ZIP Menu' has been
added that provides a complete archive file (ZIP) utility.
NOTE !!! For the following options to work, you must have a copy
of PKWare's archiving utilities (PKZIP.EXE, PKUNZIP.EXE,
PKZIPFIX.EXE, and ZIP2EXE.EXE). These four utilities
must be copied to a directory on your system that is
included in your PATH statement.
OPTIONS INCLUDE:
* Zip or archive selected/tagged files from a file pick list menu
to any drive or directory.
* Convert a Zip file to a self extract EXE file.
* Un-Zip an archived file (ZIP or EXE) to any drive or directory.
If only one ZIP file is selected, you are presented with a list
of all files contained in the ZIP file from a pick list menu
where you may tag single, multiple, or all files in the ZIP for
extracting.
* View a Zip file, displaying all file information.
* Test a Zip file for corrupt information.
* Fix a Zip file if found to be corrupted
8>- The Exit Icon, from the main menu, now allows entering multiple
commands at the Run File field when re-assigning this Icon.
After executing these commands, fastmenu GOLD will then drop to
DOS.
9>- In the Setup Module, a new option (I>- Prompt Before & After
Execution (On/Off)). During execution of an application,
fastmenu GOLD displays a user prompt message telling the user
the name of the application being executed, after exiting the
application, another prompt message is displayed telling the
user, Returning to fastmenu GOLD Please Wait !!. These prompts
can be turned off with this option.
10>- An option has been added that allows getting rid of the annoying
prompt "Can't find FAST1234.BAT file" when exiting fastmenu GOLD.
This prompt only shows up at times when the users system is running
a DOS system other than MS-DOS or PC-DOS.
Placing a file named "FAST1234.IFO" in the GOLD directory will
cause fastmenu GOLD to not remove the FAST1234.BAT file.
